Hazel and Haydn, a salon located on Caroline Street in the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter have reached the regional finals of the L’Oréal  Colour Trophy for both the Men and Women’s category. This is the fifth year in a row they have reached the regional finals!

According to the L’Oréal website, the Colour Trophy is the longest running live hairdressing competition. Originally starting 63 years ago in 1954 with only 300 attendees, by showcasing the UK’s best and brightest in hairdressing.

The competition focuses mainly on hair colouring and styling and all those who enter will have their styling judged on execution, colour, finish and look that is on trend. The full brief for the competition is as follows:

 The final look must share the same values as L’Oréal Professionnel. These are:

Fashion: Taking inspiration from trends

Innovation: Classic elements, with a brand new twist

Pioneering: A colour that has not been done before and could be a future trend

The work presented must always be exceptionally executed and technically correct.

The hair colour will be the overriding factor in any decision-making process.

The prize is an exclusive 3-day European trip for the winning hair stylist and colourist to photograph the winning look. As well as this, there will be a one day photo or video shoot opportunity to create a feature in a leading consumer print or digital title in 2019.

The competition has thousands of attendees and entrants every year with the aim “to inspire around the world, giving new salons the chance to share their passion and talent!”
