The World Cup is only around the corner and by now everyone is in the stage of delusion where we actually think we have a chance of winning, not us though. If you think for one second we’re actually going to get caught up in all the emotion of the 2018 World Cup then you’re absolutely right! IT’S COMING HOME BOYS AND GIRLS, IT’S FINALLY COMING HOME!

Anyway, once you’ve stopped trying to learn the John Barnes rap from ‘World in motion’, then you’ll want to find somewhere to watch the footie. Well, why not come to watch it in the Jewellery Quarter! With plenty of pubs, bars and eateries, we’re sure you’ll find something that will keep you content. Below we have listed some of the best places in the JQ that are showing (most of) the World Cup matches.

The Red Lion

Situated in the heart of the Jewellery Quarter on Warstone Lane; The Red Lion (UAB) is a traditional pub, rich in both local heritage and modern art. With 6 large screens across the pub dedicated to nothing but sport, you’ll never miss a World Cup moment inside or out. If it’s on, they’ll show it. They also do some pretty cracking food so if you wanted to, you can spend a whole day there enjoying as much of the football as you can.

The Lord Clifden

At The Lord Clifden, they have something for everyone! From guest ales to traditional favourites on tap or bottled world beers. They also offer their very own UAB lager & UAB ‘Hockley Pale Ale’. Serving fresh food from local sources, the diverse menu ranges from pub classics, vegetarian delights to daily specials. Starting this Thursday, ALL games will be live in the front bar & out in the beer garden. There are plenty of screens so you won’t miss the action. At the weekend there will be DJs, 3 manned bars and even a BBQ!

The Rebel Chicken

A recent addition to the Jewellery Quarter, The Rebel Chicken will have a huge, all weather conditions screen showing all the big games from the World Cup. The Rebel offers rotisserie chicken which may we say, is fantastic. They also have a fully stocked cocktail bar and a huge beer garden. You can read more about our experience at The Rebel in one of our recent blogs here.

Stirlings Bar and Lounge

Set within an impressive Grade II listed Victorian building, Stirlings occupies three floors – a stylish mezzanine overlooking the main bar and a luxurious function room in the basement. The outside terrace is perfect when the sun is shining for outdoor drinking and dining. They will be showing “as many games as possible” for the World Cup, so get down there if you fancy some of the football followed by a night out.

The Rose Villa Tavern

The RVT is a Grade II listed building serving classic American style food, as well as handcrafted cocktails for everyone to enjoy, with a wide selection of ales and beers. They will be hosting events for all England games and will show all the others without sound unless requested. If you didn’t know already, The Rose Villa Tavern is one of many businesses that are part of the JQ Card! This means that when you buy your discount card for only £9 for the whole year, you can enjoy 10% off food all day, every day. Click here for more information.

If we have missed any places showing the footie, then please make some light and we will add it to the list!
