Another month flies by, 30 days, lots of hours and even more Tweets, here’s whats been keeping the BJQ buzzing in November 2017…
New
Folium has finally opened! Michelin star chef Ben tesh, and Lucy Hanlon has finally opened their own restaurant Folium on Caroline Street, just next to St Pauls Square.
As well as a new restaurant there is also 156 new flats being built! Grainger, a listed property group has acquired a development site in the Jewellery Quarter for £28 million. the apartments will be available to rent only and called Gilder’s Yard
Events
A host of festive events made the jewellery quarter feel a lot more Christmassy this month. The light switch on was a big night which you can read more about here.
As well of the light switch on there was a variety of street food available such as The Spice is Right and Street Souvlaki.
Art
This month there were a few art exhibitions available for public viewing.
At the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter, there is the IGers Birmingham exhibition. IGers a group of photographers based in and around Birmingham. The “best of Birmingham” exhibition is full of photography from locals, which are all available to purchase. The exhibition is free to view up until the 29th of January.
At the Argenta gallery this month there was another exhibition. Shutters by Tom bird was available to view from October the 28th, up until the 17th of November. Tom Bird has photographed the shutters of Birmingham’s extensive assortment of surviving Victorian and 20th-century industrial buildings.
Food
As the calendar year is coming to a close, around the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter, the ever-increasing number of restaurants are starting to roll out their Christmas-themed menus for the festive season.
We have done our own tasting research around the Jewellery Quarter to see which ones we recommend for you to try over the next couple of months.
