If you’re a dog lover, discovering a dog while out and about is always a delightful surprise. The sound of little paws, the sight of a wagging tail, and the affectionate attention exchanged with your four-legged friend make for a wonderful experience. For dog owners, finding places where both you and your furry companion are welcome can be a challenge. Luckily, we’ve compiled a list of dog-friendly spots in the Jewellery Quarter that you and your pet can enjoy together.
Button Factory
We can personally vouch for The Button Factory’s dog-friendly policy. Recently, we had a delightful encounter with a small sausage dog named Richmond. The venue is also ideal for sunny days, thanks to its impressive rooftop terrace. From morning coffee to bottomless brunches on weekends and late-night dinners with cocktails, The Button Factory offers a welcoming atmosphere throughout the day.
The Rose Villa Tavern
The Rose Villa Tavern has consistently been welcoming to dogs, as evidenced by our frequent visits with our own pets. The tavern features both front and back beer gardens, as well as comfortable leather sofas beside stained glass windows. A Grade II listed building, it serves classic American-style food and handcrafted cocktails.
Soda Bread Cafe
Located at the corner of Ludgate Hill and St Paul’s Square, Soda Bread Cafe offers hearty German and Irish dishes. It’s a lively spot that even boasts a recovery breakfast inspired by a Beatles canvas on the wall. Dogs are welcome, so bring your pooch along while you recover from a night out and enjoy the excellent service and food.
The Jewellers Arms
The Jewellers’ Arms is a historic pub located in the heart of Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter on 23 Hockley St. Cosy open fires, twelve hand pulls and tasty pub snacks. It serves as a great place for dogs with a relaxing and warm atmosphere making all who visit feel at home.
Temper and Brown
The Pig & Tail is a relaxed restaurant Housed in the historic “George & Dragon” building in the Jewellery Quarter, which was for a long time abandoned and according to the Pig and Tails website “A pig stye” is now a thriving and modern cocktail, craft beer and grazing style bar. Located on Albion Street the Pig and Tail is very welcoming to dogs and even specialises in giving your little friend a fuss.
The Wolf
Who would’ve thought that the big dog will offer a welcoming environment to the little dog? The Wolf, located just off Constitution Hill has a wide variety of craft ales that are constantly being changed. As with their drinks, they continuously change their selection of cheese, meat, pies and pasties, which, wherever possible, have been locally sourced. Not only are they welcoming of dogs, but they also offer free treats to any dog that walks through the door. Next time you think you’ve been a good boy or girl then give yourself and your four-legged friend a treat with a cool craft ale or a locally sourced pie.
The Rectory
The Rectory – in the calm oasis of St Pauls Square on the edge of the historic Jewellery Quarter, is about relaxed, casual drinking and dining in modern surroundings where your pup is also very much welcome! Whilst we wouldn’t suggest bringing them along in the evenings when the bar can get busy, it’s the perfect pooch-friendly place for an afternoon of relaxing in this super stylish bar.
The Church Inn
The Church has been in Birmingham for well over 100 years at the heart of the Jewellery Quarter on Great Hampton Street. Not only do they hide a beautiful dining space behind the cosy, Victorian-era pub, but they also have an incredible roof terrace for a bit of basking in the sun! If you have a dog who’s always chasing sunbeams, this one is for you!
If you or your pooch know of any other places that are dog-friendly in the Jewellery Quarter then please do let us know, and we’ll add it to the list.
