Another month flies by, a New Year comes along and January is here! With lots of posts and even more photos, here’s what’s been keeping the BJQ buzzing in the first month of 2018…

What’s New?

Every month new and exciting things are happening in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, but this has to be one of the most exciting. The opening of Birmingham’s first whisky bar!

The Birmingham Whisky Club team, known for their whisky festivals based around the West Midlands, are set to open their first bar in the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter.

Based on Vyse Street, The Birmingham Whisky Club bar will be offering over 300 different whiskies!

There is a choice to become a member at this bar which will give access to special events and discounts, although it is not exclusively open to members. The bar will open Wednesdays to Sundays from midday to midnight.

JQ Events

A host of live events kept the Jewellery Quarter full of cool and interesting underground music.

The Actress and Bishop hosted two nights of music with guests including Jack in a Box, Maximum Zero, Tricky Business, Chris Flanagan, The Desperados and with False Modesty headlining the night.

If you’ve been to any of these events, let us know if you enjoyed yourself! We’d love to hear from you.

Crazy Weather

Well, we all expected there to be some unfavourable weather this month, there always is in January, however, no one expected what we got.

The whole of the UK was affected, with the Midlands being one of the worst hit by the snow. Although it was nice to look at, it made for some dangerous travel conditions. One positive that we got out of it was some of the phenomenal photos!

Large and lively

One of the most talked about things this month was the Indian Brewery expanding! They have grown in size, taking over the arch next door to Birmingham Snow-hill.

Inside there are more seats, original art-work which The Indian Brewery commissioned by utilising the creatives in the area, in addition to an open glass cellar.

For those whose never been to the Indian Brewery, now is the time to go! The place has three focal points,  Artisan Coffee, Indian Street Food and Craft Beer. They serve a large selection of their very own craft beers including the popular”Birmingham Larger” on tap.

 Another Day Another Face

With the Faces of The Jewellery Quarter Project in full swing, we now have got another addition for you! This time we met with Dale from Hazel & Haydn hairdressers on Caroline St, making it the first Faces of The Jewellery Quarter of January 2018
