Plans are in place for a major housing scheme development in the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter

There is a plan in place to build over 300 new properties in Birmingham centre, being a part of the scheme for regenerating the Quater.

Seven Capital’s ‘St Georges Urban Village’, is a residential-led scheme which has the potential to transform a the string of industrial buildings on the south-west fringe of the city centre.

Registered with Birmingham City Council, the application has set its eyes on a vast urban block through Carver Street, Moreton Street and Pope Street for redevelopment.
The developer of the scheme is Seven Capital; having plans to knock down current buildings and build 6 apartment blocks, along with 13 three-storey townhouses that’ll each host private roof gardens.

BDP, architectural firm that prepared the proposals, said the prospective development may ‘generate a setting that is a safe and attractive environment for living.’
Director of architecture at BDP, Dan Smyth, claimed, “St Georges Urban Village adds life and improves permeability of this rapidly changing area of the Jewellery Quarter, it is a very interesting, fine-grained design by a developer with a reputation for delivery in Birmingham.

The site it is set to be located in is already a fast-developing area of Birmingham and has consented to plans for a variety of projects, one being a 24-apartment scheme at 28 Carver Street.

Other projects are on the horizon with St Georges Court set to be transformed into the new Perry Beeches School and a five-storey hotel set for development at 120 Pope Street.

Seven Capital estimates that the Urban Village is to deliver roughly 550 residential units to the public, over 430,000 sq ft floor space.

Included within the redevelopment is The Kettleworks, which was bought in the previous year by Seven Capital.
The plan for the 300 apartment transformation is only the first phase of the scheme for the Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter.

The 400-spaced car park, adjacent to The Kettleworks, will provide parking for the residents, with approximately 250 spaces reserved for The Kettleworks’ residents, providing access from Pope Street.
