The team behind The Village in Moseley are now putting their heads together for a potential project in St Paul’s Square, Birmingham Jewellery Quarter.

Set for development is The Rope Walk, in St Paul’s Square, that may be converted into a 31-bedroom hotel.
The prospect of the hotel would be creating 40 full and part-time job opportunities.

The company behind the relaunch of The Village in Moseley, Suburban Inns, have decided to lodge plans to convert the two floors above The Rope Walk pub, founding in St Paul’s Square.

The site is currently being used as offices and the site’s car park, around the back, is said to remain as a part of the development.

The prospective hotel would be a great base for guests to experience the lively and historic area of the Quarter, with venues close by like The Rectory, The Jam House and The Actress & Bishop along with The Rope Walk that is just down the stairs.

AT Architects, based in Leamington Spa, have prepared a design statement saying: “The proposal will bring jobs and further revenue as well as additional visitors into the area which will add to the local services.

“It will make use of the existing building to its full potential while still retaining the external elevations. It is felt the proposal is appropriate in terms of scale and design and remains consistent with the character of the Square.”

Suburban Inns founders, husband and wife team Adrian and Sharon Harvey, had their first endeavor in the form of the former Village Inn in Moseley two years ago.
The Royal Hotel in Sigh Street, Sutton Coldfield is also owned by the couple.

This application is currently the latest in the long line of proposed redevelopment projects for the Birmingham Jewellery Quarter.
