After months of preparation and over a year of planning, The Birmingham Whisky Bar is set to open this month.
As we’ve mentioned before the whisky bar will be located in The Museum of the Jewellery Quarter, making it another welcome addition to the area.
It is to occupy a new venue at the back of the museum and will be open to the public of 14th of February, making it the perfect place for Valentine’s evening for all whisky lovers in and around Birmingham.
Birmingham Whisky Club owner Amy Seton is has planned to convert the old café at the Museum of the Jewellery Quarter for a while now. After the immense success of the Whisky Festival that the club run, it’s only fair they get a change of making a whisky bar in the popular Jewellery Quarter area.
Our experience
We were very fortunate to visit the whisky bar last weekend for their soft opening and we were overwhelmed with how fantastic it was.
Firstly, we were welcomed with a complimentary taster dram of whisky (we are unsure of the name but we can tell you it was tasty). We were given an extensively well-detailed menu with over 300 different whiskies to choose from, both single and mixed malts.
We were given an in-depth list of recommendations, as well as suggestions of what drink would be best suited to our tastes. The menu contained a guide of the different tastes you would experience from each drink. This helped in deciding from the huge list, what whisky you would like based on your preference.
On the night we visited it was Burns Night. This was in memory of the legendary Scottish poet in which the night was named after. As a nice touch, the cocktails were also named appropriately after poem titled by Burns. The Red Red Rose was what we ordered and if we can confirm it was as delicious as it sounds.
Scattered around the bar was a collection of quirky and interesting books dedicated to whisky and drinking. One that piqued our interest was titled “How to Drink Every Day”
We can’t recommend this place enough and hope you try it out when it opens on the 14th of February!
