Like many of the jewellers in the Jewellery Quarter, Premier Diamonds has a long-running history with this part of Birmingham. That history stems over 30 years and counting, for this family-run business.

The Jewellery Quarter’s popularity does not see any sign of diminishing, especially as new businesses are opening regularly in the area. This is adding to the 800 plus businesses that are already in the area. Those businesses include an array of jewellers, such as Premier Diamonds, as well as cafes, bars and even a museum. The area has become increasing attractive for young professionals, likely to be because of its booming trade, as well as its close proximity to Birmingham City Centre and transport links.

• Alfred Bird, the founder of Bird’s Custard, is buried in Key Hill Cemetry.
• One of the Jewellery Quarter’s most well-loved bars, The Jam House, opened in 1999. On the day it opened, a capacity crowd were entertained by Jools Holland and his Rhythm ‘n’ Blue Orchestra. Jools is also a big supporter of the bar.
